The Ambassadors |
The People and the benefits
As well as providing a valuable service to the community, the Ambassadors Scheme also works at another level, giving opportunities for members of the community to gain employment and increase their skills at all levels.
To date, a total of 17 individuals have passed through the Ambassadors Scheme. These people have benefited from a four-week induction programme, aimed at providing them with the ability to deal day-to-day with a variety of situations.
The programme includes training in:-
- First Aid
- Health & Safety
- Conflict Management
- Customer Care
- Police and Legal Training
- Fire Safety
- History of Halifax
- Drugs Awareness
- CCTV
It is complemented by a series of drop-in sessions with various Council bodies and other partner organisations. Our Ambassadors have also benefited from Life Coaching and Job Search training, including application form completion and interview techniques.
Since 2003, nine ex-Ambassadors have taken up new roles, securing employment opportunities with organisations such as West Yorkshire Police, Securitas, retail bodies, customer service teams and Council departments. These local organisations can now capitalise on their increased confidence levels and skills gained through the Scheme.
