Halifax in Bloom facts
- Manor Heath Nurseries produce 250,000 bedding pants for the Halifax area.
- There has been 5000m squared of new planting over the last three years in Halifax, most of which comprises of mixed shrubs and perennials.
- In 2006 and 2007 there has been 1000m squared of additional new sustainable planting.
- There will be around 500 Summer hanging baskets located around the town centre which take around 17000 plants (all sponsored).
- Spring baskets were new for 2006 with 133 been made using 5000 plants.
- 70 barrier planters are now in permanent situ in the town centre using 5500 plants.
- There are 12 tower planters (all sponsored) at Southgate which are made up of 3000 plants.
- The bedding plants, baskets and barrier planters take a team of six people, six weeks to plant/put out.
- Over the last 2 years Calderdale Council have planted 40000 spring bulbs mainly within grass areas such as the banking behind Albert Park.
